A new Orthodox song titled “Gods Kinderen” (“God’s Children”) has been released in the Dutch language on the YouTube channel Orthodox Benelux to mark the Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The piece is based on the well-known Serbian Orthodox hymn “Deca neba” (“Children of Heaven”).

The song expresses the Christian longing for heavenly bread and the desire to belong to God and His kingdom. It emphasizes the belief that earthly life, despite its blessings, cannot save humanity from death, and that salvation can only be attained through God and His eternal kingdom.

The recording is performed by singers from various Serbian Orthodox parishes in the Netherlands and Belgium, including individuals of Dutch, Serbian, and mixed Serbian-Dutch origin, all born and raised in the Netherlands.

The accompanying music video presents authentic scenes from the life of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Netherlands, including Divine Liturgy, the Sacrament of Marriage, gatherings of children, and, most prominently, a mass baptism of Dutch catechumens. These catechumens were baptized in the River Lek, becoming members of the Orthodox Church and subsequently receiving Holy Communion. All scenes depict real events in parish life; no actors or staged performances were used.

The video highlights the universality of the Orthodox Church, showing how people from diverse ethnic, cultural, and racial backgrounds find their place within the Serbian Orthodox community, and demonstrating that the Church of Christ welcomes all who seek Christ and salvation. Filming took place at the Parish of the Holy Trinity in Rotterdam, in Dordrecht, along the banks of the River Lek, and in various rural locations throughout the scenic Dutch municipality of Molenlanden.

This is the first Orthodox music video and song ever produced in the Dutch language, contributing to missionary efforts and expressing appreciation toward the growing number of Dutch people joining the Orthodox Church. The video and recording were made with the blessing of His Eminence Bishop Justin Jeremić, Bishop of Western Europe of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
